Our top five North West end of the season predictions

lfgouldbourn

Prediction One: Burnley won’t win another game this season Vincent Kompany’s men are currently 10 points away from Premier League safety with a tough run of games to come.

Having picked up just three wins all season, we’re struggling to see where their next three points are coming from – likely in the Championship next campaign.

Prediction Two: Blackburn will avoid relegation on the final day Rovers’ final game is away to table-toppers Leicester City, who will likely be in a title race at that point, so it’s difficult to

envisage them coming away with anything from that game – and we also can’t imagine them moving too far away from the relegation places beforehand.

However, there’s three other teams positioned between themselves and the Championship’s drop zone, so we predict them to narrowly survive.

Prediction Three: Bolton will win the play-offs With Portsmouth and Derby County above them in the automatic promotion spots and looking more dangerous as the weeks go on, we believe the Trotters will have to rely on the League One play-offs to get out of the division.

It won’t be easy, but they should have slightly more quality than their potential opponents to be victorious at Wembley – a venue they have recent experience of winning a trophy at.

Prediction Four: Blackpool reach League One play-offs on the final day Despite being a point behind Stevenage – who occupy the final play-off spot – while playing a game more, Blackpool are poised for a late charge under Neil Critchley, guided by star man Jordan Rhodes. Bolton Wanderers, Peterborough United and Barnsley will all possibly be a step too far for the Tangerines but reaching the play-offs would be a sign of progression after relegation last time out.

Prediction Five: Stockport will get promoted on goal difference Stockport are stuttering and

gradually feeling the heat of Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra, MK Dons and Barrow behind them.

While they may struggle to piece together a run of victories from now until the end of the season, their blistering start to the term has handed them a significant goal difference and we reckon that might be the key factor in the Hatters going up
