Superstar fullback Matt Dufty has extended his contract with Warrington Wolves until the end of the 2026 season.
The Australian is in his second full season with the Wolves after signing halfway through the 2022 campaign from NRL club Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.
After a fairly uninspiring campaign last year Dufty has sparked into something special in 2024, and is currently second in the overall Man of Steel standings.
The 28 year-old has six tries so far this season after a hattrick in London last weekend. He’s also racked up five try assists and leads the league in ball caries and metres gained, averaging a huge 187 per game.
Warrington have had a great start to the season and top the table with eight points after five rounds.
Dufty has been vital to their success, and if he stays injury free the club could have a great chance at silverware in Sam Burgess’ first year at the helm – with the ex-England forward saying:
“I saw him last year and thought we could utilise him better.
“I’m thrilled for him, he deserves this and now we’ve just got to get him consistent on the field because he’s got so much more in him.”
Warrington have been crying out for an electric carrier of the ball at fullback for many years, so if they can keep Dufty at his brilliant best then their problem is solved.
